Christmas Holidays in france

The end-of-year celebrations remain an opportunity for many cities to light up their streets and celebrate with beautiful decorations. Discover our suggestions to spend an unforgettable Christmas in France with your family or friends.

Paris

Paris isn’t called the City of Light for nothing, and especially so at Christmas: sparkling decorations light up the city. Head straight to Champs Élysées, where over a million sparkling lights cover the 400 street trees between Place de la Concorde and the Arc de Triomphe. The Eiffel Tower  Market at Quai Branly offers Parisians and tourists alike the opportunity to soak up a little Christmas spirit. Come to see Galeries Lafayette's Christmas magical atmosphere. It has become a mandatory stop and is visited, every year, by more than ten million visitors eager to discover the Christmas windows! Try out your skating skills in the festive surroundings of the Magie de Noël Christmas Market in the Jardin des Tuileries

Vaux-le-Vicomte

For this year’s Grand Noël, Vaux-le-Vicomte celebrates festivities and entertainment in the 17th century. From November 18th , the estate will adorn itself in its garments of light, offering visitors the chance to become guests of Nicolas Fouquet for a day, through a festive, family-friendly programme. The chateau's museum, decorated for the first time by Maison Goodwill with a host of creations and automata, will immediately immerse visitors in the Christmas spirit. The ceremonial rooms will all be staged under the crackling of the open fires, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the spirit of Christmas.

Strasbourg

Every year, close to two million visitors flock to the Alsatian capital to experience its enchanting market. For over a month, Strasbourg is imbued with a festive, spiritual ambiance with few parallels anywhere else in Europe. The Christmas Market is spread across more than ten sites, all located within the Grande Île district. For the four weeks of the Christmas Market, as soon as the night falls, the city lights up with magnificent illuminations that add magic to the air. The big Christmas tree on Place Kléber Square is the most enchanting of all. This majestic, beautifully decorated tree stands proud and impressive, at thirty metres high. A symbol of an Alsatian tradition that goes back five centuries, it is the ambassador of a city bathed in light.

French Alps

Come and enjoy the magical atmosphere of Christmas and the transition to the New Year in one of the 7 ski resorts that make up the 3 Vallées ski area: Courchevel, Méribel, Brides-les-Bains, Les Menuires, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Val Thorens and Orelle. From fireworks to torchlight descents, from parade to Christmas decorations, there is something for everyone during your family ski holiday.  Come and spend a new year at the top!
